Because one must remember that while Israel’s corrupt and messianic government aspires to annex Gaza, Judea, and Samaria, the Islamic Republic has been on a decades-long crusade against Sunni Islam, occupying multiple Sunni states and seeking to foment civil war in all of them.🙃🤦
There's something bad about Israel controlling that promised Land was fought for with Jewish blood and given to us by God for our third millennium, that is your summation of the situation?
I'm aware that I'm triggering you by mentioning God but I also mentioned that men fought for it and established legal principles, the old double whammy that's unprecedented in modernity and triggers the faiths that followed the one true Faith disputing the one true Faith with their misinterpretations and malevolent malignant new faiths that created more discord and chaos.
Whether they crucifixionists or the jihadists they are triggered by the repudiation of their false faiths by the Jews existing in their third millennium in their Homeland as they should with full territorial integrity according to the Torah international law and all things good and just.
Repudiating falsity is what Jews are about, not bowing down for tyrants.
Jezeusian mythologists got a dose of reality with the repudiation of their replacement theology in 1948 and then a curb stomp in 1967 with full territorial integrity restored with true Jews running the show not LARPing crucifixionists or jihadists, what's more prophetic than that
All the Abrahamic religions (whether moseists, crusifictionsists or jihadists in your parlance) are Greek in origin. Jerusalem is just Vathy redone in West Asia. Repudiate.
I apologize for my kneejerk reaction. I should have just said "bombastic drivel" about the content (not the person). I am sincere; not trying to be funny here. I felt bad about a stupid ad hominin attack. Argh.
Good summary. People often miss that Trump is a Saudi / Qatari stooge. Also a good reminder that while Iran post-1979 is anathema to the West and Israel, the same can be said of Gulf States that promote radical Sunnism (Wahhabism, Salafi Islam). The next century will be interesting once oil starts drying up and slush funds wither.
A less conspiratorial theory is that Trump didn't want a major attack to collapse the ceasefire.
The official IDF statement:
"Shortly before the ceasefire was due to take effect, Iran launched a barrage of missiles, one of which took the lives of four of our citizens in Be’er Sheva. The ceasefire took effect at 07.00.
At 07.06, Iran launched one missile at Israeli territory, and two additional missiles at 10.25. These missiles were either intercepted or fell in open areas, and caused neither casualties nor damage."
A massive IDF response to the 3 missiles launched after the ceasefire, which caused no damage, could have wrecked the ceasefire and dragged Trump into a longer war, which has political risks in the US and can erode support for Israel.
Netanyahu should not have planned a massive response to this and instead been more understanding of Trump's position. He is, after all, the only US President to have bombed Iran's nuclear program.
Understood, although then I would make the case that Trump should have "let" Israel reprise, to show Iran that he will tolerate no breaking of the ceasefire and fire will be met with overwhelming fire (as he said out loud). If Trump was truly 'on Israel's side' that would be the diplomatically correct thing to do, to set up negotiations from a position of dominance.
I don't know if this is completely on topic, but Israel has a chance to be a shining light in terms of culture and being supportive of families Israel is (nearly?) the only country in the OECD where fertility is still above replacement level. https://www.oecd.org/en/about/news/press-releases/2024/06/declining-fertility-rates-put-prosperity-of-future-generations-at-risk.html

I mean, I agree with that sentence. Thank you for highlighting it!

Alan, I absolutely believe that the whole land - especially Judea - Eretz Israel. And yet: https://alighthouse.substack.com/p/first-fruits-and-final-chances

I think the author is a bombastic idiot.
Ha! Do you know this from personal acquaintance?

All good! Looking forward to hearing your substantive disagreement with the case made when you have the time. Thank you for reading!

Right - which is why the UAE/MBS pivot to moderation is so tenuous
interesting take
Thank you

Trump did let Israel respond to the ceasefire violation: it destroyed one air defense radar in Teheran.
But it didn't respond with the massive 52 aircraft strike it had intended, which could have collapsed Trump's ceasefire.
This was a reasonable response to a ceasefire violation comprised of 3 missiles that caused no damage.
